About the School's Namesake
Louis P. Slade
(1873-1946)
Louis P. Slade served as principal of New Britain High School for 25 years from 1913-1938.
The class of 1914 bestowed upon him in his first year, the dedication of the year book. He named the book the Beehive, the name it has borne ever since. In 1931 and 1932 he was again thus honored. And then again in 1938, his last year, as principal, he was once more selected for the dedication

Remodeled: 1990s
Slade Middle School saw an addition in the 1990's of 3 floors of classroom and education space. A new roof was added in 2023 and Air Conditioning for all classrooms was completed in 2023 as well.
